I always make sure to bring a phone charger so I can call family and friends, text, check my email, etc. Also, hospitals are quite boring, and often when I’m stuck in the hospital it’s because I’m fainting a lot, so I don’t feel horrible when I’m laying and/or sitting. The TV helps, but I usually bring a book to read or sudoku puzzles or something. Now that I’ve learned to crochet, I keep a small skein of crochet thread, a hook, and a pattern in my purse so I have something to do if I’m admitted after an ER trip. At home I keep a little backpack with most of the things you listed in your post, everything I just listed, a change of underwear, and a pair of pajama pants, which my family and friends know to bring to me if I’m stuck in the hospital.

A container of hard candy. Offer it to every hospital worker that walks into your room. You will see them much more often, and they are happier to help you.

  3. I always bring a just-in-case bag to the er with my own pajamas and a list of my medications and when I take them. That way my schedule doesn’t get all out of whack causing migraines and we don’t repeat that one toke the doctor didn’t order any migraines rescue mess so I ended up with a 3 day doozie.

  4. A fantastic cup of coffee is the only thing that could make this blog better.
