About

Ilana_Jacqueline_HeadshotIlana Jacqueline is the author of the award-winning blog, Let’s Feel Better. She started the blog at age 22 to share her humbling, hilarious, and heartfelt experiences coping with chronic illness. From full contact fights with skull-cramping migraines to making peace with being a human pincushion, she writes boldly and unabashedly about breaking down, getting back up, and pulling off the bandage that is “coming out” about the shame and frustration of living with chronic illness.

Her first book, Surviving and Thriving Chronic Illness, will be published by New Harbinger and available on shelves in early 2018.

When not sneaking in naps, Jacqueline spends her days as the managing editor of The RARE Daily for the international rare and genetic disease non-profit, Global Genes. She also freelances for pop culture magazines and websites including Cosmopolitan Online and is a columnist for the patient-centered immunodeficiency magazine, IG Living. As a health advocate and regularly interviewed expert on chronic illness, she looks to help patients advocate for themselves at their most vulnerable moments.

Career

A blogger by night, by day Jacqueline is a freelance writer and marketing consultant who has worked with every industry imaginable. From the backs of shampoo bottles to the front pages of major medical websites, she’s seen it, synthesized it, and written it all.

Her copy has been featured in multiple mass-market beauty, baby, and women’s health products. She’s had the pleasure of ghostwriting for multiple companies and story tellers with ease and discretion. Jacqueline has enjoyed working with doctors, lawyers, tattoo artists, and non-profits, has guided many start-up companies through their first marketing campaigns with great success, and has worked side-by-side with some of the most talented associates and most respected public relation and advertising agencies in the world.

Her editorial work has been featured in such publications as Today’s Teen Online, Materniteens, The Palm Beach Post, The Huffington Post, The Boca Raton Observer, Boca Magazine, The Sun-Sentinel, The Happy Herald, AOL’s Lemondrop, and Marie Claire Magazine.

Let’s Feel Better was created to share tips, advice and personal stories about her experiences dealing with a rare and chronic illness. To date, she has been diagnosed with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, Gastroparesis and Primary Immunodeficiency Disease. Jacqueline hopes her stories can provide tips, sanity and maybe even a little hope to others attempting to walk the fine line of suffering from a chronic illness–and living with one.

    Ilana,

I enjoyed your blogs. I’m sorry you were struggling with the treatment center. Personally, I had a great experience, but also felt “in the dark” about a lot of it. I do think more info for patients considering it would be greatly beneficial. I decided when I left there I had to find a way to help other POTS patients and I’m planning on starting a website of my own. Yours has been inspirational. You are an amazing writer! By the way, it took 5 months of working on my routine daily before I felt about 85% recovered. Now I just have a few setback days around the pesky period time. I wish you continued healing and health — Lisa D.

Hello, Thank you for your wonderful blog I just found my 21 year old daughter found out she has pots after nine trips to the emergency room and numerous doctor visits. Our pcp has been the biggest help every other doctor we see wants to send us to Cleveland which is 11 hours from our home. We have now found a dr in stl which is 4 hours away that we hope can help. I have never felt so frustrated in my life with Dr. When she sneezes she passes out and she sneezes about 6-8 times a week. She hasn’t drove in 9 months and doesn’t have much of a life for a 21 year old. Thanks for you review of the clinic I was going to try and come up with the money but would really hate it if we went and came home with little answers. We just need a good cardio not one that tells us there is nothing more he can do.
